The full path and file name of the PC3 file to use instead of the current configuration. If this parameter is not provided, the current configuration will be used. If the configuration file is not found at the specified path, AutoCAD will search the printer configuration path for the file before it defaults to the current configuration.
Return Value (RetVal)
Type: Boolean
- True: The plot was successfully sent to the device.
- False: The plot was not sent to the device. There was either a plot process failure or the plot was cancelled.
Remarks
The drawing from which the plot is initiated must be active for the plot to succeed.
To plot in the foreground, you must set the AutoCAD BACKGROUNDPLOT system variable to 0. Otherwise, plotting occurs in the background.
The plot device is specified using the ConfigName property for the layout or plot configuration.
If the PC3 file specified or the current plot configuration contains plot-to-file information, this method may actually send the plot to a file instead of to a device. Be careful to review all current plot configuration information for the specified layout. To plot several layouts, you can use the SetLayoutsToPlot method before invoking the PlotToDevice method.
To create a new configured plotter (PC3) file, use the Add-a-Plotter wizard in AutoCAD. For more information about PC3 files, see the AutoCAD Online Help system.
Customize the settings of DWF6 plotter to change the file output.
You are not likely to change the settings in the DWF6 ePlot Properties dialog box often. However, when you need to make some subtle changes to your DWF6 ePlot configuration, you can do so through the DWF6 ePlot Properties dialog box. You can specify settings for color depth, display resolution, file compression, handling of fonts, pen settings, and other options. When you create DWF6 files, you use a plotter configuration file that uses a DWF6 driver. You must use the DWF6 ePlot.pc3 file to plot DWF6 files.
The DWF6 ePlot.pc3 plotter configuration file is the default driver for the PUBLISH command. You can use the DWF6 ePlot.pc3 plotter configuration file as installed, or you can modify it using the Properties button in the Plot dialog box. This invokes the Plotter Configuration editor, where you can make changes directly to the DWF6 ePlot.pc3 file. Although you can save DWF6 ePlot.pc3 files under other names to use with the Plot command, no other name works with the PUBLISH command. Any changes you make to the DWF6 ePlot.pc3 file are used whenever you plot or publish DWF6 files until you change the settings of your DWF6 ePlot.pc3 file again.

Note: If you are going to make changes to the DWF6 ePlot.pc3 file, make a backup copy of the file first in case you want to use the default settings later. If necessary, the default DWF6 ePlot.pc3 file can be re-created with the Add-A-Plotter wizard.
These settings may change file size and plot quality, depending on the content of the source drawing for the Design Web Format™ (DWF™) file.
DWF files intended for plotting should be configured with a white background color. If the background color is set to black, color 7 objects are plotted as white. For all other background colors, color 7 objects are plotted as black.
